Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus... Philippians 2:5

2 Timothy 2:15

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Studying the scripture is a part of retention that all believers should agree is needed but few really give themselves to a personal study time. It is a command from the apostle Paul to his son in the faith, Timothy. (2 Timothy 2:15) We are to study to show ourselves approved of God that we may have the ability to adequately understand truth from the deception. Studying takes time, effort and a real commitment. These are things that we aren’t willing to give unless we really see the return on our investment. Most of us are sure that we know what we know, until what we know is challenged by experience and tested by trials. What man has given you then man can take away. We need not to simply, blindly accept what is said to us but develop also a personal time of study. A biblical library is a treasure that should not only be reserved to the pastor, but for anyone who has a desire to know truth. In Isaiah 28:9, the prophet reveals the answer to a profound question. Who shall receive knowledge and who shall gain an understanding? The answer; to them that are weaned from their mother's milk. I have heard many misrepresentations of what is milk and what is meat in relation to God's Word, but only one adequate analogy. From a very wise mentor who educated me on what a mother's milk really is. It is already digested meat. The mother's body breaks it down for the babe and then the babe is able to partake of the nourishment. Pastors, teachers, evangelists, and others are partaking of the meat and then feeding the flock. A mature Christian chews it up for themselves through personal study time and then breaks it down in portions suitable for babes. We really need to chew up the tough meat of the Word for ourselves to truly get a clear understanding and sincere knowledge of truth. An examination into the validity of what is read is always welcomed by truth and resisted by deception. Study to show yourself approved of God instead of going through life thinking you are accepted and then missing the mark.
