Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus... Philippians 2:5

Psalm 119:9-11

"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."

Memorization is a principle that is admired by many but rarely practiced. Memorizing scripture often means that you have to read it over and over and over and over again. For some of us that can be many times over until our memory grasp the words. There are several methods for scripture retention. One of which, transcends all methods and that is to stay with the version that you start with. If you start memorizing King James (KJV) then stay with that as you learn other verses. But other methods include writing out the verse, putting rhythm to the verse, breaking it into phrases or sections, and even putting it in your own words. (Psalm 119:11) The way to your heart is first through your mind. If you have any intention of overcoming sin, then you must begin to practice scripture memorization.
